The basic idea is:
- The substitution box is 10 yards
wide, use this to your advantage!!!!!!
- All players MUST substitute through
the box: middies, defense, attack!
- You have to wait for the player to
leave the field before you can step on.
- The best rule of thumb is to sub
when you are on offense.
- You can not be in the box unless a
player is coming to sub out.
- Once you have subbed out, you must
leave the substitution area.
| When you are entering
the game, you should be on the opposite cone from where your team
mate is coming. You gain 10 yards by doing this. |
Heads up playing (not
done correctly can result in a fast break against your team):
- IF your and your team mates
are smart about this, you can take advantage of the 10 yard
box by subbing a player out one end and getting in front of
the play with a new player coming out the other side of the
box. COMMUNICATION IS KEY HERE!! Make sure the player is
off the field before going on.
- IF your and your team mates
are smart about this, you have the ball and you need to sub
out, and your defender is not playing you tight, you can sub
out by dropping the ball on the field, leave the field, and
let the other player pickup the ball to start the
offense. YOU have to make sure your defender is FAR AWAY
from you, no one is coming in or out of the box, and the
Attack can not reach the ball.
