Defending Fast Breaks

<IMG SRC="nonflash.gif" width=500 height=350 BORDER=0>
The basic idea is:
  • All Defense needs to fall back into a tight triangle.
  • Someone calls out "POINT" or "BALL" and must cause he player with the ball to do something before they get too close.
  • When the ball is passed away from the point, the defense should slide with their stick in the middle clogging up passing lanes.
  • Sliding quickly and smartly will help cause bad passes by the offense.
  • The best shot to give up is the one farthest out from the goal.
  • When you slide, make sure the player with the ball does not try to dodge past you, slide body on body, stick on stick, and be ready to rotate back to your slide if/when the pass is made.
